Army displays weapons in Niger Delta (PHOTOS)




– The Nigerian army showed some of its weapons in Port Harcourt – This is part of the Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region The Nigerian army has displayed some of its weapons as part of its on-going exercise in the Operation Crocodile Smile in the Niger Delta region.
The rise of militancy in the region has led to bombing of oil and gas pipelines that has affected the economy. In reaction, the army initiated Operation Crocodile Smile which is meant to train troops in amphibious operation and also protect the region in other to curb militancy. On Saturday, September 3, troops displayed some armoured tanks in Port Harcourt in Rivers state.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari vowed to deal with Niger Delta militants the same way he treated Boko Haram terrorists. Although the Niger Delta Avengers which has claimed responsibility for most of the vandalism has agreed to a ceasefire, several mushroom groups have vowed to continue with the bombing. President Buhari promised the militants will get the same treatment given to Boko Haram if they don’t stop their activities.
